There are so many competitions around just for VCE students, so I figured I'd start a thread to update you all (feel free to contribute).

If you're a quick writer, check out The Castan Centre's Writing for Human Rights Essay Competition. http://www.law.monash.edu.au/castancentre/cc-human-writes/ entries are due on the 20th of March (2 days!), but if you're interested in law, it can give you a great launch pad (I won in 2007 and was basically told that if I wanted to get into Monash Law and didn't have a high enough ENTER, I would be able to easily transfer into law).

UNIFEM essay competition: http://www.unifem.org.au/node/270 entries due 1st of May

Industrial Relations essay competition: http://www.griffith.edu.au/business/griffith-business-school/news-events/industrial-relations-essay-competition
Entries due on the 18th of September

Both lip magazine (http://lipmag.com/) and Voiceworks (http://www.expressmedia.org.au/vw_back_issues.php?content_id=159) are specifically looking for submissions from young people. Voiceworks pays for submissions, lip doesn't.

In the terms and conditions it says that the essay must be submitted by a student enrolled at a Queensland school.
